MORSE – Acadiana Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council, in partnership with LA Department of Agriculture Forestry and Acadia Parish Fire District 5 in Morse, recently hosted a community meeting on “Becoming a fire wise community”.

St. Martinville – Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Pearly Meyers Perry, 91, who passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at LTAC of Acadiana in Lafayette.

Interment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum.

Msgr. Douglas Courville, pastor of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, conducted the services.

St. Martinville — Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Noemie Vincent Clark Champagne, 91, who passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008 at her residence in St. Martinville.

Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery.

Piedmont, S.C. – Joanne N. Smith Hebert, 52, of Piedmont, loving wife of Jody L. Hebert for 23 years, died Thursday, July 9, 2008.

Born in Sanford, Maine, Mrs. Hebert was the daughter of the late Byron M. “Red” Smith and Bernadette Lizotte Smith.

Loreauville — Homer John Dugas, 84, a native and resident of Loreauville, died Friday, July 18 at 4:30 p.m. at his residence surrounded by family and friends.

Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Dalton Mitchell Menard, 87, who passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

New Iberia – Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Charles James “CJ” Hime Jr., 51, at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Nativity of Our lady Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Arnaud officiating. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held on Friday, July 18, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel for Lillian Hantz Hoffpauir, 91, who passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Cecilia – Funeral services were held on Monday, July 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Eula Mae “Mae Mae” Hebert Landry, 84, who passed away on Friday, July 18, 2008, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville.
