The old Eunice High School building on South 9th is being torn down to make way for a new elementary school. The building was built in 1904, turning out its first graduates in 1910. The graceful, two-story high school building will be replaced by a modern, one-story one.

Happy 3rd birthday

A fire station themed birthday party was held in Levy Park on May 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. to celebrate Carson John Tweedel’s third birthday.

Carson is the son of Shevonne Tweedel and the grandson of John and Linda Tweedel.

His godparents are Gerard Sonnier and Kaleigh Credeur.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary install new officers

On Thursday, June 12, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Harold Bossely- Post 6720 of Crowley held their installation of new officers. Past department President, Mrs. Enola Kilchrist was present to swear in officers. New officers sworn in are, front row, from left, Laura Thibodaux, Jr.

It's not imaginary any longer, it's reality

For sisters Amaya, four, and Destiny, three, new worlds of imagination arrived in the mailbox this month.

The girls were among the first children in Louisiana to receive free books in the mail through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program, which recently took off in Eunice.

Cormier slated at Liberty

Sheryl Cormier & Cajun Sound will perform at the holiday weekend "Rendez-vous des Cajuns" Cajun Music Radio & TV Show at Libertry Theatre in Eunice on Saturday, July 5 at 6:00 PM.

Couple exchange vows

St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice served as the setting for the evening, double-ring ceremony uniting Hailey Blisse Manuel and Andrew Polk Guempel in holy matrimony. The ceremony was held on May 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Miss Manuel is the daughter of Christy A. Manuel and the late Randy D. Manuel of Eunice; and Mr. Guempel is the son of Stephen and Martha Guempel of Eunice.
