PICAYUNE, Miss. - A Louisiana man died in a motorcycle accident Tuesday on U.S. 11 here.

ALEXANDRIA - On Tuesday, June 17, at 10:59 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle and one pedestrian. The crash occurred on I-49, milepost 148.5, in Natchitoches Parish.

The Evangeline Parish Council on Aging received fans from Cleco’s 2008 Fan Drive recently.

CROWLEY - Funeral services were held for Matthew Raymond Arnold, 26, of Crowley, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 21. Burial followed in the Woodlawn Mausoleum.

The Evangeline Parish Recreation Board met Thursday, June 19, to hear updates on the proposed sports complex, which would include baseball and softball fields, basketball and tennis courts, a walking trail and a playground.

The City of Ville Platte’s annual summer feeding program is underway, and Annie Bradley, director, said everything is going well.

Before lighting fireworks for the Fourth of July holiday, residents should check local ordinances to see if firework usage is permissible.

The Mamou 12-and-under All-Stars kept their fire going by winning the Mamou Invitational Tournament last weekend.

The Mamou 10-and-under All-Stars rolled to a second place slot in the Cajun Express Classic in early June and then did the same at the Mamou Invitational last weekend.
