Henderson — Hot but dry weather last Saturday, June 7, ensured a big crowd for the 2008 Association of Louisiana Bass Clubs Youth Fishing Tournament out of Basin Landing on Henderson Lake.

On Friday, May 30, the Mission and Pastor’s Aid auxiliaries of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church hosted a retirement dinner for local educator, Annie Matthews.
The celebration was in recognition of her thirty-two years of dedicated service to the teaching profession.

The Crowley High School Class of 1947 celebrated their 61st class reunion on Saturday, April 19 at the Coushatta Casino in Kinder.
A catered meal was served after a moment of silence for all the departed classmates.

Three Ten Club members met on Tuesday, May 20, at the home of Carolyn Barousse to install new officers for the 2008-2009 club year.
Newly installed officers are Mary Beth Geesey, President; Suzanne Gray, Vice President; Muff Bier, Treasurer; and Bobbie Chambers, Treasurer.

Les Dames Acadian met at the home of Bettie Duhon for the annual Fun Day Celebration. The theme for the occasion was “Red Hat Fun Day”. Members were asked to dress in purple and to wear red hats.
Upon arrival, the guests were served coffee, juice, as well as scones and cheese straws.

The 1942 graduating class of Rayne High School gathered on Saturday, May 24, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café for a class reunion.

Mrs. Thomas is a native of Washington, Louisiana and has been a resident of Crowley since 1975.
She is a graduate of Paul L. Dunbar High School and Grambling State University.
