The 16th Annual Le Festival de la Viande Boucanée, also known as the Smoked Meat Festival, will be observed in Ville Platte Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28.

Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte celebrated Nursing Home Week with several activities between May 11 and 17. These included a balloon release ceremony, barbecue and ice cream party. Pictures of these events can be seen here.

The La. Dept. of Transportation and Development has cancelled planned pipe replacement at Maple Avenue and Bobcat Drive.
DOTD on Monday morning announced the intersection would be closed Wednesday, June 4, through Tuesday, June 20, but changed its plans in early afternoon.
No reason was given for the change .
