Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte celebrated Nursing Home Week with several activities between May 11 and 17. These included a balloon release ceremony, barbecue and ice cream party. Pictures of these events can be seen here.

Intersection work cancelled

The La. Dept. of Transportation and Development has cancelled planned pipe replacement at Maple Avenue and Bobcat Drive.

DOTD on Monday morning announced the intersection would be closed Wednesday, June 4, through Tuesday, June 20, but changed its plans in early afternoon.

No reason was given for the change .

Council declares wastewater emergency

The City Council at a special Monday meeting declared an emergency, allowing it to respond rapidly to the La. Dept. of Environmental Quality's notice of possible penalty involving Wastewater Plant shortcomings.
