Eunice High basketball player Harry Frank received another honor, recently named to the All-Acadiana Basketball team. Teammate Charles Anderson was named honorable mention.

Last week, this newspaper ran a full section on the graduating classes of all of the area schools and that brings to mind graduations long since forgotten.

Back in the “old days”, the real feat was to have a school to attend, much less graduate from.

Demand for services at the United Community Healthcare Clinic in Eunice has increased greatly, with the clinic seeing 50 new patients every month on average, UCHC Director Yancy Fontenot told the Eunice Kiwanis Club last week.

For the first time in the history of American Legion baseball in Eunice, there will be two teams for the community to follow this summer.

The wastewater hammer fell Thursday, when the Louisiana Dept. of Environmental Quality gave Mayor Bob Morris a courtesy call saying the city is in violation of its operating and discharge permit.

According to Morris, the DEQ advised that the city has been out of compliance since 2006.

Breaux Bridge — Local filmmaker Conni Castille will debut her latest effort, “Raised on Rice and Gravy,” Saturday, June 7, on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
