The St. Edmund Blue Jays and the Eunice Bobcats both earned spots in the high school baseball playoffs.

In Class 1-A, the fifth seeded Blue Jays will host No. 28 Oberlin at 6 p.m. today.

The winner will face the Ascension Catholic/Oak Grove winner in the regionals.

BASILE - Three St. Edmund athletes will have a chance for a medal at next Thursday Class 1-A track and field state championships held at Bernie Moore Track on LSU’s campus in Baton Rouge,

CADE – St. Edmund tennis team placed second in the Region II, Division V tennis tournament held at the Episcopal School of Acadiana Tuesday.

Spring squirrel season begins next Saturday, May 3, and runs to May 25 on private lands and to May 11 on Sherburne and several other state wildlife management areas.

SULPHUR - The Eunice boys tennis team finished fourth in the Class 4-A, Divsion II regionals with four points.

The girls sqaud finished third with five points.

Tyler Courville and Daniel Anding qualifed in boys doubles with a fifth-place finish.

RAYNE – The Eunice High Bobcats wrapped up their regular season Tuesday night with a disappointing 4-3 loss to the Wolves of Rayne.

They didn’t have an opponent to play, but the eight Lady Bengal sophomores were honored at their final home game anyway.

Linda Ouellette of the Pucheu, Pucheu and Robinson Law Office, was named the 22nd “Administrative Professional of the Year” by the Eunice Rotary Club Wednesday afternoon.
