St. Martinville – Northside High School proved to be the dominant force in the annual running of the Cajun Chef Relays held at St. Martinville Sr. High School last Friday, April 11.

Credeur qualifies to appear on ‘Ultimate Fighter’

Tim Credeur of Breaux Bridge has qualified to be one of 16 mixed martial arts fighters who will appear on this season’s The Ultimate Fighter reality show aired on Spike TV.

Bernice Talley Hodges

Broussard – Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Sacred Heart Mausoleum for Bernice “Bea” Talley Hodges, who, on March 30, 2008, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate at the service.

Agnes Angelle Hardy

Cecilia – A devout Catholic, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dedicated educator, she died at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Lakewood Quarters in Baton Rouge. She was 103 and a native and lifelong resident of Cecilia (St. Martin Parish) where she was an active member and held numerous offices in both the St. Joseph’s Ladies Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a loving homemaker, retired school teacher and principal.

St. Martinville – Services were conducted for Mrs. Atrice Mary Jacquet, the former Atrice Mary Mason, 64, at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Notre Dame Catholic Church.

Small grain acreage certification deadline nears

Evangeline Parish farmers who planted acreage of small grains, such as wheat or oats for harvest in 2008 are encouraged to file an acreage report with the Evangeline Parish Farm Service Agency Office by Tuesday, April 15.
