St. Martinville – Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church for Lena Dicks Comeaux, 84, who passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at her residence in St. Martinville.

Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Lucy Guidry, 91, who passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008, at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.

Opelousas – Funeral services for Margaret “Git” Thomas Delahoussaye, 86, were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

The Boggy Bayou Trail Riders went to Prairie Manor Nursing Home on their first stop to conduct a parade for the residents. Proceeds from the Boggy Bayou Festival go to the nursing home. The Fifth Annual Boggy Bayou Trail Ride raised over $7,500 for the nursing home.
