The Eunice Lady Bobcats scored a run in each of the first two innings and held off a stingy Port Barre team for a 2-0 win Saturday in the finals of the S. Landry Parish softball tournament held at Opelousas High.

It was the first parish title for the Lady Cats since 2001.

St. Martinville — The sultry Bayou Teche and the storied Evangeline Oak set the scene March 15 for the fourth annual Acadian Memorial Festival, a celebration of the peopling of southern Louisiana by the deported Acadians.

On Monday, February 11, two days after the legislature was called in for a special session to discuss and pass laws pertaining to ethics and good government, the Racing Commission, on very short notice, was ignobly summoned to a senate committee meeting in Baton Rouge.

Eunice High holds its annual Bobcat Relays track and field meet Wednesday, with 14 area teams competing. Field events begin at 3:15 p.m. and track events begin at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

Weeks One and Two rainouts have now been made up or forfeited, leaving Team Sam with a clear lead after walloping Team Tupper 16-0 in Week Six of Eunice Ladies Tennis League play.

The St. Landry Parish School Board's Finance and Executive Committees will meeting Monday, March 17.

At the Finance panel's 3 p.. meeting, members will get a General Fund financial report from Finance Director Randy Manuel.
