City sticking with current contractor

St. Martinville — The City Council Monday rescinded a call for bids on the contract trash pickup service after determining that it would likely be cheaper to extend the current contract with Allied Waste Services.

Breaux Bridge will borrow for streets

Breaux Bridge — The City Council authorized Mayor Jack Dale Delhomme to proceed with plans to do a major overhaul of city streets.

The council authorized Delhomme to take the necessary steps to float bonds against the city’s revenue.

Softball results

As softball season got cranked up last week Cecilia’s Lady Bulldogs opened the first week of play with a 1-1 record.

The Lady ’Dogs blew by Acadiana on Wednesday but suffered a 2-0 shutout at the hands of Beau Chene on Thursday.

Flag football in Magnolia Park

St. Martinville – The Ten-N-Out Bengals will hold a flag football tournament, the first “Bash on the Bayou,” this weekend, Feb. 23 and 24, at Magnolia Park.

The entry fee is $100 with a deadline of Feb. 20, after which there will be a $10 late fee.

CHS, SMSH secure post-season berths

The Cecilia Bulldogs close regular season play with a 19-12, 7-2 record and earn the No. 2 seed for the District 6-3A playoff bracket.
