VPPD makes several recent drug arrests

Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue reports on the department making several recent drug arrests.
On May 2, Officers and Detectives with the Ville Platte Police Department acting on an anonymous tip, made contact with a female that was sitting inside a vehicle parked outside of a closed convenience store on Lincoln Road.
After speaking with the female and searching the vehicle, the officers and detectives located marijuana and over 70 pills. Arrested was Cheryl Soileau, 41 of 138 Lester Street. Soileau was charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule II, simple possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a CDS in the presence of a juvenile and violation of CDS.
Soileau was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on a $20,000.00 bond.
On May 3, 2016 officers and detectives conducted a warrant roundup with Louisiana State Probation and Parole. While working the roundup officers and detectives made contact with four subjects sitting inside of an illegally parked vehicle on North Thompson. When they approached the vehicle one subject fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the subject was apprehended.
Arrested was Damian Clark, 26 of 1088 King Blvd., Ville Platte. Clark was charged with Possession with intent to distribute schedule I, Possession with intent to distribute schedule II (crack cocaine), possession with intent to distribute schedule II (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, batter of a police officer and violation of CDS. Clark was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on a $52,500.00 bond and a hold for Probation and Parole.
•Jonathan Ardoin, 18 of 725 N. Latour, Ville Platte was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I, Possession of schedule II, violation of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ardoin was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on a $32,500.00 bond.
•Mackenzie Dixon, 27 of 511 Vidrine Street, Ville Platte was arrested and charged with Possession of schedule I, Possession of schedule II, violation of CDS and Possession of drug paraphernalia. Dixon was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on a $27,500.00 bond.
As officers and detectives continued working with Louisiana State Probation and Parole they made another narcotic arrest the same evening. While probation officers spoke with a parolee on East Jackson Street a male subject fled the residence and threw something from his hand as he ran. After a short foot pursuit he was apprehended.
•Eddie Birden, 40 of 509 East Jackson Street, Ville Platte was arrested and charged with Possession of schedule I, resisting an officer and possession with intent to distribute schedule II. Birden was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on a $22, 500.00 bond and has a hold for Probation and Parole.
