They played a total of four games and finished the weekend with a 4-1 record and the top seed going into the District Seven Tournament. The District Seven Tournament is being held this weekend in Ville Platte.

It officially starts Saturday. The defending Dixie Youth Louisiana Minor League State Champions will host the District Seven Tournament.

Antioch Baptist Church recently began its community-based summer tutorial program

The 16th Annual Viande Boucanée Pageant was held Sunday, June 22, 2008, at the Northside Civic Center. Three new queens and their runners-up were selected to represent the festival, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #632 and the City of Ville Platte for the next year.

June is National Homeownership Month and the ASSIST Agency will host a homeownership fair today from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Vermilion Parish Library in Abbeville.

Lawmakers have returned home with the close of the regular session on June 23 with milestones under their belts, questions to answer to the constituents, and plans to make for the next session.
