Funeral services were held for Lynette “Lynn” Fontenot, 49, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 20. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Police find a ‘stuck’ criminal

Charges are pending against a Ville Platte man, who was found by workers in the cooking vent of a local store Saturday morning.

The 16th Annual Le Festival de la Viande Boucanée, also known as the Smoked Meat Festival, is just a few weeks away. Organizers are excited to announce this year’s great musical lineup, which includes T. Graham Brown, who will be performing Saturday evening, June 28.

Burleigh W. Young

EUNICE-Funeral Services for Burleigh W. Young, 87, will be Celebrated Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the University Baptist Church in Eunice with Rev. Vernon Martindale, Rev. Charles Amy, and Pastor Woody Gunnels officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Young, a resident of Eunice, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at his residence.

MAMOU - Mamou Police arrested Bobby F. Simmons, 1803 Lynn St., Franklin, for defamation after recent rumors regarding a confrontation between Mamou Police Chief Greg Dupuis and Louisiana State Police were spread throughout the parish.

Services will be Wednesday for former teacher and city councilman Burleigh W. Young, who died Sunday at age 87.
