The Bayou Cabins in Breaux Bridge hosted more than the annual Crawfish Festival. Although Mr. & Mrs. Procambarus clarkii (red swamp crawfish) and P. zonangulus (white river crawfish) were invited, the guests of honor were Mr. Finn Pedersen and Miss Marianna Kaltoft from Silkeborg, Denmark.

Breaux Bridge — Thursday’s wind knocked the little house on the outskirts of town about a dozen feet to the west, ripping it off its supports, and dropped it two feet to the ground.

JENNINGS – Services for Gertie Lopez will be Saturday May 17, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady Help Of Christians Church with Father Ronald Groth officiating. She died Thursday May 15, 2008 at Jeff Davis Living Center. She was the daughter of Charlie and Eunice Vincent Vallo, born in Gueydan.

CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Leon “Junior” Hoffpauir, 72, who died Thursday, May 15, 2008 in Lafayette.

IOTA – Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Geesey-Ferguson Chapel in Iota for Frances Bergeaux Dietz, 77, who died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

The Reverend Mitchell Gatte will officiate.

CROWLEY – On Friday May 23, the Evangeline chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) will be rolling into town with a slew of antique cars.
