Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Captain Keith Dupre, chief of detectives, said the sheriff’s office was contacted about a break-in on Necessity Loop near Basile Wednesday, May 7.

The First Annual Miss and Master Louisiana Relay for Life Children’s Pageant, with all proceeds going to American Cancer Society, will be May 24, at the Ville Platte High School Gymnasium. Pageants will begin at 8:30 a.m. for 0-to-6 months, 9 a.m. for 7-to-12 months, 9:30 a.m.

I will be the first to admit I am an electronics geek. And as such, I often get asked by people how the digital television switch will affect them. Using plain English, I will attempt to explain what the switch means and who will be affected.

The 2008 Evangeline Parish Rice Field Clinic will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. at Kody and Larry Bieber Farms at the bins. This year’s clinic will feature variety trials, fertilization, weeds, insects and diseases.

Russell Kibodeaux

Russell Kibodeaux, 81, of Eunice, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Oak Lane Nursing Home.

The kickoff for the summer series of the Ville Platte Farmer’s Market is Friday, June 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ville Platte Town Square Park, located across from city hall on Main Street.
