Governor Bobby Jindal announced that Donna Corley of Crowley is one of 11 appointments and four reappointments to the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission.

Corley has been the owner of Shetler Corley Motors since 1987.

School Board honors athletes

CROWLEY – At Monday evenings meeting of the Acadia Parish School Board, the Iota High School girls were honored for the State Basketball Championship recently won. Many of the players on the team were there for the recognition.

St. Martinville Sr. High School will host the annual Cajun Chef Relays this Friday, April 11, featuring boys and girls teams from six local and area schools.

City ‘buying’ swampland for sewage

St. Martinville — The City Council Monday (April 7) authorized Mayor Thomas Nelson to “buy” 2.1 acres of swampland to make up for cypress swamp disturbed by levees designed to contain the city’s sewage plant outflow.
