The 19th Annual Belaire Cove Crawfish Etouffée Cookoff will be Sunday, March 30, at 8 a.m. at the church grounds of the Sacred Heart Chapel in Belaire Cove.

In 1990, the Sacred Heart Chapel in Belaire Cove celebrated its 50th anniversary of existence with a special service conducted by Msgr. Irving A. DeBlanc, who served as assistant pastor under Msgr. J.M. Bourgeois when the chapel was opened in 1940.

The annual 4-H Fishing Clinic was held Tuesday, March 25, at Chicot State Park.

Sgt. Troy Dupuis was singled out for his actions in responding to a fire at a business in the Poche Bridge Area.

With the recent election of a new sheriff, Eddie Soileau, in Evangeline Parish, a group of men known as the motorcycle deputies had to be sworn in once again. Citizens often catch glimpses of these men riding in parades and funeral processions.

EUNICE - The Eunice Players’ Theatre announces that practice is underway for the first show of the 39th season. “The Last Night of Ballyhoo,” written by Alfred Uhry and directed by Gabe Ortego and Angie B. LaCalle, is scheduled to open in April.
