CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Gladys Dronet of Rayne, 80, who died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.

Deacon Rodless Leleux will be officiating the service.

CROWLEY – Many Crowley residents have been confused recently about the removal of the street lights at the intersections of 3rd St/Parkerson and 4th/Parkerson. The lights will not be replaced.

CROWLEY – Isadore “Beau” Greenwald, 79, former prominent businessman and long time resident of Crowley died Wednesday evening, July 23, at American Legion Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Ulysses 'Ducky' Prevost, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, on Friday, July 25, 2008 for Ulysses “Ducky” Joseph Prevost, Sr., 81, who died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at his residence.

Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne.

Prevost was on the board of directors of Rayne State Bank, where he served was president, CEO, and chairman for over 20 years.

Robley bridge construction dollars approved

Months ago Vermilion Parish and Lafayette officials decided to take action on reconstruction of the Robley Street bridge that joins the two parishes in the north. While both sides agreed that the project was a priority, one issue held up the progress: money.

Ground breaking held for new St. John's catechism building

Motorists were surprised Wednesday morning when they approached the drawbridge on old Hwy 14 in Abbeville and saw a “bridge out” sign.

According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD), repairs were done on the bridge the previous Sunday.
