Heritage Manor News: Wishing all a Happy Thanksgiving

The first national Thanksgiving proclamation was issued by President George Washington in 1789. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln appointed a day for a national harvest festival at the urging of Sarah Josepha Hale. He gave a proclamation declaring the last Thursday of November as a day of Thanksgiving, starting in 1864. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, November is a month when most people in the U.S. think of gratitude and how they can give back. Let’s remember to give thanks for all of our blessings and our trials as well. During the trials is when we are the strongest in our faith. We are hosting our fourth annual sweets party on Wednesday, November 27, in the dining room beginning at 2 p.m. All family members are invited and encouraged to attend. Everyone is asked to call ahead to let us know how many will be attending and what dessert you will be bringing to the party.
Activities this week include Armada Prayer Group service and rosary, bingo sponsored by the KCs, arts and crafts, in-room visits, pokeno, Olympic games, exercise, Washington Baptist Church service, Come Lord Jesus group, movie and popcorn and bingo sponsored by the Disabled Veterans of America.
