Swamp Pop Museum celebrates third anniversary

Louisiana Swamp Pop Museum docent Glenn Fontenot gives visitors a tour of the museum on Friday, September 27, during the third anniversary celebration of its opening. Before its grand opening in October 2010, the Louisiana Legislature proclaimed Ville Platte “The Swamp Pop Capital of the World,” because of the historical connection between the city and the early musicians of the genre. Admission charges were suspended for the three-year anniversary celebration, and a large crowd of visitors were present. The museum director, Janie Knighten, coordinated the event, which included a live remote by KVPI.
