Minister’s Corner: God’s amazing grace

By: DR. BRIAN DORE’

The psalmist in Psalm 121:7-8 said, “The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord will preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Notice that he says, “You’re coming and going.” As you go through the day to day rituals of life, God is watching over you. He wants to be your source of help and your source of strength, and He will be, if you come to Him.
Some people have the idea that God is watching us, as the Bette Midler song “From a Distance” says, from a distance. But that is inaccurate. God is watching us but He is right here with us now. He is not observing us from a telescope as we face the uncertainties, He is the right here with us. He is with us, offering us shade from the sun and relief from the sun and relief from the heat. He is not watching us from a remote heaven as we face the darkest hours of our life. He is right here with us and even the darkest hours of our life cannot hurt us.
It’s called “amazing Grace” because God, in His infinite goodness, treats us far better than we deserve. And, in His infinite goodness, He takes care of us when we can’t take care of ourselves.
