The Ville Platte Bulldogs started their version of the District 5-3A schedule in boy’s basketball last week.
Being in Class 3A did not intimidate the Pine Prairie Panthers too much as they approached the District 5-3A schedule. Church Poiint came to town to get the league play started. Pine Prairie bolted out early and managed to hold on and win the game over the Bears by a score of 60-48.
The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans cruised by the Lady Gators of False River and the Lady Hornets of Catholic High of Point Coupee to improve to 2-1 in District 5-1A. It was an impressive performance as the local girls bounced back after a loss to North Central.
On paper and in a traditional sense, the Trojans of Sacred Heart should not even be able to hang on the same court. However, someone forgot to tell the Trojans that. Because the boys in blue and gold gave the boys in blue and white a game they would not forget.
The Ville Platte High Lady Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the District 5-3A standings.
The local girls crushed the Church Point Lady Bears 73-37 in a game that started out really close, but saw the VPHS group keep firing.
