4-H Egg, Poultry and Pecan Cookery winners announced

The Evangeline Parish 4-H Fall Food Fest was held on Monday, November 25, in the Sacred Heart Elementary Gymnasium. Forty-one egg, poultry and pecan dishes were awarded blue, red or white ribbons. The parish contest was sponsored by Paul’s Meat Market and Grocery, Jack Miller’s Food Products and Evangeline Feed and Seed.
Parish winners in the Egg Cookery were:
Appetizer/Salad Division: Benjamin Fontenot, Sacred Heart Elementary School fourth grade, with Pop’s Favorite Chicken Dip
Main Dish Division: Kennady Ardoin, Ville Platte High School seventh grade, with Crawfish Etouffee Omelet Roll.
Dessert Division: Elayne Elnaggar, Bayou Chicot Elementary School seventh grade, with Coconut Cake.
Parish winners in the Poultry Cookery contest were:
Chicken Division: Sean Eastin, Ville Platte High School seventh grade, with Sweet and Tangy Chili Gingered Chicken.
Processed Poultry Products Division: Annabeth Briley, Sacred Heart Elementary School seventh grade, with Tortilla Turkey Soup.
Parish winners in the Pecan Cookery contest were:
Candy Division: Annabeth Briley, Sacred Heart Elementary School seventh grade, with Pecan Coated Truffles.
Desserts Division: Justine Ardoin, Ville Platte High School sixth grade, with Thumbprint Cookies.
Other Pecan Dishes: Johnathan Deshotels, Sacred Heart Elementary School fourth grade, with 25th Anniversary Cheese Ball.
All parish Egg, Poultry and Pecan winners will represent Evangeline Parish in the Regional Cookery contest to be held in Alexandria in March of 2014.

White Ribbon Winners - Jermaine Boast, Ville Platte High School, fifth grade.

Red Ribbon Winner - Austin Darbonne, Sacred Heart Elementary fourth grade.
