MAMOU - Funeral services will be held for Cecelia Pearl Young, 73, of Reddell, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 15. Burial will follow in the Reed’s Cemetery.
A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Ms. Young died Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Littell “Doc” Young of Reddell; one son, Kirk Young and his wife, Shayne, of Reddell; four daughters, Donna Ryder and her husband, Randy, of Vidrine, Susan Butler and her husband, Ralph, of Baton Rouge, Sandy Baldridge and husband, Jeremy, of Sulphur and Becky Fontenot and her husband, Dirk, of Reddell; two brothers, Joseph Anthony Deshotel of Mamou and James C. Deshotel and his wife, Wilma, of Sulphur; one sister, Mary Ann Courville of Reddell; 17 grandchildren, Dustin and his wife, Miranda, Bridgette and her husband, Zackery, Hannah, Aaron and his wife, Amanda, Andy, Jessica and her husband, Kaine, Jacob, Kelly and her husband, Jason, Corey, Sarah, Ethan, Sophia, Caroline, Chloe, Payton, Riley and Ryan; and five great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Aiden, Brayden, Keegan and Abigayle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Murphy and Pearl Deshotel; one sister, Rita Faye McGee; one sister-in-law, Tarrel Deshotel; and two brothers-in-law, Lionel Guillory and Berkman Courville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Department of Leukemia in memory of Cecelia Pearl Young. The address is Unit 0428 P.O. Box 301439 Houston, TX 77230-1439.
