Pine Prairie was the setting for the Dixie Youth east sub-district tournament this past weekend.
The Ville Platte all-stars cruised through the round robin tournament without a loss, taking home the title.
Ville Platte will now move on to district play to be held on July 2-8 in Pine Prairie. Ville Platte is scheduled to play Friday, July 3 at 4 p.m.
“The coaching staff had two goals in mind coming into the sub-district tournament,” said Ville Platte head coach Eric Fontenot. “First, we wanted to gauge our team’s reaction to tournament play. Secondly, we wanted to find out how to handle our pitching staff going forward. We were very pleased with our play and the pitching staff as a whole.”
“We still have room for improvement. We will be working on some things in the next two weeks before the district tournament. As expected the team gave a total effort and our fans were second to none in their support.”
