The Ville Platte High basketball recently took part in a summer team camp at Southern University.
The team completed against some fierce competition, including schools above their classification.
The Bulldogs went 2-0 on the second day of the camp, defeating Baker High and Capitol High, two basketball juggernauts.
“The team played well above their expectations,” stated head coach Tommy Jones. “We are very young this year and only had a few days of practice before going to this team camp. We are also battling a few injuries right now.”
Jones pointed to some veteran players for their play and leadership at the camp.
“Martin Jason, Shanicole Holland and Kelian Semien all performed exceptionally well at the camp,” said Jones. “What really impressed me was how they are embracing the role of leaders out on the floor.”
Jones commended his assistant coach for a job well done at the camp.
“Coach Ervin Wilson did a spectacular job of coaching the kids during the camp,” commented Jones. “He has been an asset and relates well to the kids.”
