Imagination becoming reality

The campaign to bring Imagination Library to Eunice has raised close to $10,000 towards its $30,000 goal, Jean McManus announced to the Eunice Kiwanis Club last week.

School begins Aug. 7

St. Landry Parish schools will open for 2008-2009 classes on Thursday, August 7, with the last day of classes being Friday, May 22, 2009.

Teachers will report for workshops on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The calendar was adopted by the School Board at its meeting last Thursday afternoon.

New motel planned

A Lake Charles investors’ group plans to build a Holiday Inn Express in Eunice.

The City Council accepted Govin Investments' petition for annexation at its March meeting Tuesday night.

The tract in question is the former site of John’s Lounge (west of Popeye’s) on West Laurel.
