It’s been a long time since Louisiana has had two top 10 teams in the NCAA Division One Bracket. This season, the state has ULL and LSU who both are in the top 10 of the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. Both LSU and ULL will begin their quest for Omaha tomorrow.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL), was ranked first in the poll as of May 26th. The Cajuns are 53-7 on the season and will host their regional. The Cajuns take on Jackson State tomorrow.
The Cajuns are favored to win that game and if they do, they will meet the winner of San Diego St. and Mississippi State. That game takes place at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
The finals of the regional are slated to take place Sunday, June 1st, at 6 p.m. If ULL should win their regional they would host a Super Regional, which could be the first in the school’s history. ULL also won the Sun Belt Conference Championship this season. The winner of the Lafayette Regional will meet the winner of the Ole Miss Regional.
LSU ended their season with a record of 44-14 and ranked 4th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. They will also host a regional in Baton Rouge which begins tomorrow also.
LSU will face Southeastern Louisiana (Hammond) at 2 p.m. The Lions are (37-23) on the season. The Lions are not to be overlooked as they have given some good schools a tough contest throughout the season. LSU did defeat SELA 7-3 back on February 19th.
The winner of LSU and SELA will meet the winner of Bryant and Houston. That game takes place at 7 p.m.
The finals of the double elimination event are scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday June 1st. The winner of the Baton Rouge Regional will meet the winner of the Rice Regional.
The College World Series will begin on Saturday June 14th in Omaha, Nebraska.
