Heritage Manor News: Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was born near the end of the fourth century in the area of what is now Wales. He was the son of a Catholic deacon and was 16 when he was kidnapped by a group of Irish priests. He was taken to Ireland and was a slave for a sheep farmer for six years. During this time, he began to have religious visions and became a Christian. He escaped and went to France, where he studied in a monastery, becoming a priest and later a bishop. His goal was to return to Ireland to convert pagans to Christianity. His mission in Ireland lasted for more than 30 years. He died on March 17, in 461 A.D. St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday that honors him and credits him for converting many people to Christianity in the fifth century. We will be having a St. Patrick’s Day party on Monday, March 17, at 2 p.m. in the activity room.
Other activities this week include Come Lord Jesus group, fun bug, group exercise, bingo sponsored by the Ville Platte Rotary Club, Community Prayer Line service, happy hour, reminiscing time, horseshoes, snack toss, social reading, cookie bake sale, mass, card games and St. Joseph rosary.

Residents will be attending the Silver Eagle Social on Monday, March 17, in Pine Prairie and bingo blowout in Rayne.
Spring begins this week on March 20, so our spring and summer activities will be changing, along with the menus.
