Heritage Manor News: Workplace friendships

In a recent study, it was determined that work friendships keep people in their present position for longer periods of time. It takes a raise in salary to move someone to a different facility when that person is happy in his or her present position. Workplace relationships impact the ability of a person to succeed at their job. It is estimated that the average worker spends more time with co-workers than their families. It is clear that feeling valued and being recognized for good work are the key ingredients for keeping good staff. Simple acts of kindness can brighten someone’s life more than you know. Relationships are the heart of long-term care. Good relationships with residents, co-workers, community leaders and families create a positive atmosphere of a facility and enriches the lives of those who live there and work there. Many thanks to our great staff members who assist their residents to and from their destination. It not only keeps them happy, but it gives the staff pleasure knowing that they have done a good job going the extra mile for someone.
Activities this week include in-room visits, Come Lord Jesus group, manicures, pokeno, bingo sponsored by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, happy hour, hot chocolate, Olympic games, reminiscing time, social reading, washer toss and service by New Life Assembly of God.
The staff of Heritage Manor wishes a Happy Birthday this week to Ruby Johnson and James Deville.
Next week, we will be celebrating National Activity Directors Week. Activity directors are always on the lookout for new ideas to improve the quality of life for their residents. From craft ideas on a budget to new successful programs for Alzheimer’s residents, organization and lots of energy is a must. We strive to keep our residents not only busy but happy by doing activities of their choice.
