The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office has added two new vehicles to its fleet of cars.
Two weeks ago, EPSO officially received two 2011 Ford Crown Victorias which were donated by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. The donation stemmed from a meeting between Evangeline Parish Sheriff Eddie Soileau and Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeffrey Wiley back in late February.
“Sheriff Soileau was at a mandatory training seminar in Baton Rouge,” EPSO Captain Jeremy Mitchell said. “It was there that he and Sheriff Wiley began to talk about issues with budgets. Sheriff Wiley told him that he had a few cars that he could donate.”
The two cars were in good condition and EPSO has only had to make minor adjustments, adding decals and pinstripes, to make them ready for patrolling the roadways of the parish.
“The only thing we had to do is put on our stripes and install our radios,” Mitchell said. “Sheriff Soileau would like to thank Sheriff Wiley for his generous donation.”
With the two new cars added to the fleet, Mitchell added that will allow EPSO to now retire a few of its older-high mileage vehicles.
“With these coming in we will be able to take a few older vehicles off the road,” Mitchell said.
