CROWLEY – A mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Harold Glenn LaVergne, 61, who died Monday, March 31, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.

Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the mass and the Committal Services at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation may be observed from 2 p.m. Wednesday until 10 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until service time. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. LaVergne was born November 9, 1946 in Church Point, LA to the late Joseph Milton and Elsie Andrepont LaVergne. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, The VFW post 6721 and the American Legion Post 15.

Harold Glenn was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished Paw-Paw to Ciara and brother whom will be dearly missed. His bout with cancer over the last ten months defined his character and was an example to his family.

He was also an avid fisherman and spent many weekends with his wife, Nancy, and friends at their camp in Grand Chenier. Their time spent there created memories that will never be forgotten.

Harold Glenn was employed by Simplex Grinnell for 35 years prior to his retirement December 2007. During his career he made numerous friends throughout the Acadiana Area, especially employees of the Acadia Parish School Board.

He is survived by his wife, Fumiko Nancy LaVergne of Crowley; two sons, James David LaVergne and his companion, Brenda Martin of Church Point and Joseph Jason LaVergne of Crowley; a granddaughter, Ciara Lyndie LaVergne; a sister, Mary Etta Thibodeaux of Lafayette and three brothers, Hubert LaVergne and his wife, Paula of Lake Charles, Wayne LaVergne and his wife, Trudy of Mandeville and Randal LaVergne and his wife, Judy of Rayne.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc. of Crowley.
