Three Evangeline parish football teams have worked their way into the post-season and will begin their quest for the State Championship this coming Friday night, as the LHSAA reveled the 2017 playoff brackets Sunday afternoon.
Garnering the No. 8 spot in the Division IV playoffs is the Sacred Heart Trojans. The Trojans will host the No. 9 seeded Ouachita Christian Eagles at Soileau/Landry Field. Game time is set for 7 p.m. A win would pit Sacred Heart against the winner of No. 1 Vermilion Catholic and No. 16 St. Martin's Episcopal.
The Basile Bearcats hold the No. 7 seed in the Class 1A bracket and will host No. 26 seeded Slaughter Charter Academy. If the Bearcats can prevail, they would face either No. 10 seeded Montgomery or No 23 seeded Gueydan.
Despite their loss against Welsh this past Friday, the Ville Platte Bulldogs reached the Class 2A playoffs as the No. 29 seed. The Bulldogs will travel to Many on Friday to take on the No. 4 seeded Tigers. The winner of that game would face off against the winner of the Pine/West St. Mary contest.
