Both boy’s and girl’s teams from Mamou High and Pine Prairie High were on the road Tuesday night in ever so important district contests.
The Mamou Demons and Lady Demons traveled to DeQuincy to take on the Tigers and Lady Tigers respectively, while the Pine Prarie Panthers and Lady Panthers were in Prairie Rhonde to tackle the Northwest Raiders and Lady Raiders.
It turned out to be a good night for the boy’s teams, as Mamou defeated the Tigers 55-41 and Pine Prairie took down Northwest 67-55.
However the girl’s teams did not fare as well as the boy’s, with the Lady Demons falling to the Lady Tigers 45-28 and the Lady Panthers taking it on the chin in a 51-35 loss to the Lady Raiders.
Here is a re-cap of those games.

Mamou (G)
vs. DeQuincy
Offense was not the name of the game for Mamou in their loss to DeQuincy.
After scoring 10 points in the first quarter the Lady Demons combined to score only seven points in the next two quarters.
The Lady Tigers led 8-5 after one quarter and 20-13 at the end of the first half. DeQuincy finished out the game by outscoring Mamou 25-15 in the second half.
Darelzeray Bellard and Kazhana Richard each chipped in 10 points to lead the Lady Demons in scoring.
Mamou falls to 16-9 on the year and 4-3 in district play with the loss.

Mamou (B)
vs. DeQuincy
Mamou did not trail the entire game, as the Demons opened with a 13-7 lead after the first quarter of play.
Mamou could only outpace the Tigers 8-7 in the second quarter, but still maintained a 21-14 lead going into the locker room.
A 14-11 advantage in scoring in the third quarter gave the Demons a 10 point lead after three quarters of play.
Mamou closed out the game by outscoring DeQuincy 20-16 in the final period.
Carlos Burnes netted 12 points on the night to lead all Demons in scoring, while Lil’ Paul Williams added 11 points in the win.
Mamou moves to 11-11 on the year and 3-2 in District 4-2A with the win.

Pine Prairie (G)
vs. Northwest
Pine Prairie was hoping to stay two games out of first place with a win over Northwest Tuesday night.
Unfortunately for the Lady Panthers, they played one of their worst games of the season.
The Lady Raiders held Pine Prairie to one point in the first quarter and eight points in the second quarter to take a 26-9 lead going into the locker room.
The Lady Panthers were able to adjust and tie Northwest 26-26 in the second half, but could not overcome the poor performance in the opening two quarters.
Pine Prairie falls to 13-8 on the year and 5-3 in district competition.

Pine Prairie (B)
vs. Northwest
Revenge was on the minds of Pine Prairie as they traveled to take on their former coach Chris Guillory Tuesday night.
Northwest defeated the Panthers earlier this season in an emotional game.
Pine Prairie fell behind early in the game, as they trailed 18-13 after the first quarter. But, the Panthers regrouped and took a 22-16 lead at the end of the first half.
Pine Prairie was three points better in the third quarter and seven points better in the final period to seal the win.
Isaiah Payne scorched the nets for 27 points to lead the Panthers.
Pine Prairie is now 13-8 on the year.
