VPE students learn about local government

On January 7, Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine and Judge Greg Vidrine visited the second grade students at Ville Platte Elementary. The students have been learning about local government and their jobs in the community in their Social Studies class. Mayor Vidrine and Judge Vidrine explained their jobs and roles in the community. They also explained the requirements and process of becoming a mayor and judge. Both allowed students to ask questions, and Mayor Vidrine asked students what they would like to see Ville Platte have for the children. At the end of the presentation, Mayor Vidrine presented each teacher and student with a pin from the city. The teachers extend their gratitude to both Mayor Vidrine and Judge Vidrine for taking time out of their busy schedules to speak to the students.
