Winners of 4-H Egg, Poultry and Pecan Cookery announced

The Evangeline Parish 4-H Fall Food Fest was held on Tuesday, December 2, in the Sacred Heart Elementary Cafeteria. Thirty-four egg, poultry and pecan dishes were awarded blue, red or white ribbons. The parish egg and pecan contests were sponsored by Paul and Tammy Fontenot of Paul’s Meat Market; and the poultry contest was sponsored by Sheila and Kermit Miller of Jack Miller’s Food Products.
•Parish winners in the Egg Cookery competition were:
Appetizer/Salad Division - Mia Jones, Sacred Heart Elementary fourth grade, with Pasta Salad.
Main Dish Division - Madison Jackson, W.W. Stewart Elementary fourth grade, with Egg and Crab Casserole.
Dessert Division - Madison Jackson, W.W. Stewart Elementary fourth grade, with Red Velvet Ooey Gooey.
•Parish winners in the Poultry Cookery contest were:
Chicken Division - Mia Jones, Sacred Heart Elementary fourth grade, with Chicken Pasta Salad.
•Parish winners in the Pecan Cookery contest were:
Candy Division - Lydia Ward, Pine Prairie Elementary fourth grade, with Classic Southern Pralines.
Dessert Division - Kaydence Guillory, Ville Platte Elementary fifth grade, with Mama’s Pecan Pie.
Other Pecan Dishes - Madison Jackson, W.W. Stewart Elementary fourth grade, with Pecan Spinach Apple Salad.
All parish winners will represent Evangeline Parish in the Area Cookery contest to be held in the spring of 2016 in Alexandria.

Blue Ribbon - Ellen Deshotel, Vidrine Elementary fourth grade; Mattie Buller, Vidrine Elementary sixth grade; and Gracie Vidrine, Pine Prairie Elementary fourth grade.
Red Ribbon - Benjamin Fontenot, Sacred Heart Elementary sixth grade.
Main Dish Division:
Blue Ribbon - Beau Fontenot, Bayou Chicot Elementary fifth grade.
Red Ribbon - Evan Gaspard, W.W. Stewart Elementary fourth grade; and Iven Chen, Ville Platte Elementary fourth grade.
Dessert Division:
Blue Ribbon - Evan Gaspard, W.W. Stewart Elementary fourth grade.
•Other Poultry Cookery Contest winners were:

Blue Ribbon - Benjamin Fontenot, Sacred Heart Elementary sixth grade; Mattie Buller, Vidrine Elementary sixth grade; Olivia Mayeaux, Vidrine Elementary sixth grade; and Jaquailon Jones, James Stephens Montessori fourth grade.
•Other Pecan Cookery Contest winners were:

Blue Ribbon - Ian Coreil, Sacred Heart Elementary fourth grade; Austin Aucoin, Chataignier Elementary fifth grade; Madison Jackson, W.W. Stewart Elementary fourth grade; Mia Jones, Sacred Heart Elementary fourth grade; and Landon Reed, W.W. Stewart Elementary fourth grade.
Red Ribbon - Benjamin Fontenot, Sacred Heart Elementary sixth grade; and Kaitlyn Fontenot, Sacred Heart sixth grade.
Desserts:
Blue Ribbon - Lilly Blanchard, Sacred Heart Elementary fifth grade; Daegan Aucoin, Mamou Elementary fourth grade; Madison Jackson, W.W. Stewart Elementary fourth grade; and Amyra Grey, James Stephens Montessori fourth grade.
Red Ribbon - Gavin Lafleur, Mamou Elementary fourth grade; and Gracie Vidrine Pine Prairie Elementary fourth grade.
Any Other Dish:
Blue Ribbon - Emily Deshotel, Vidrine Elementary sixth grade; and Mattie Buller, Vidrine Elementary sixth grade.
