EPSB hears good news in school scores
Evangeline Parish School Board Superintendent Toni Hamlin addressed the board during its meeting Wednesday, November 6, to present them with good news regarding the recent release of school performance scores.
Hamlin said that while Ville Platte High School was named academically unacceptable back in 2007, this year the school has earned a grade of C, a step up from last year’s D. Not only that, but she said a total of four Evangeline Parish schools increased in grade level. This year, Evangeline Parish has three schools with an A (Basile High School, W.W. Stewart and James Stephens Montessori), three schools with a B (Pine Prairie High School, Vidrine Elementary and Chataignier Elementary) and five schools with a C (Bayou Chicot Elementary, Mamou Elementary, Mamou High School, Ville Platte Elementary and Ville Platte High School).
These performance improvements, Hamlin said, are the result of the hard work of teachers and principals at these schools and she and the board commended them on the job they’ve done.
