Inmate escapes, quickly captured
At approximately 10 a.m. on today, November 6, an inmate that was incarcerated in the Ville Platte Police Department Jail escaped and led officers and detectives on a foot pursuit. Inmate Cawaskee Ardoin, 20, 703 North Reed St., Ville Platte, was being moved to a different area of the jail when he ran from jailers and escaped. For a short period of time, the schools located in the vicinity were placed on lockdown as a precaution while officers and detectives searched nearby. Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue stated Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies and city marshal deputies assisted with the search. Lartigue also stated that the public was never in any danger and proper precautions were taken. After approximately two hours, the suspect was captured and incarcerated. Lartigue thanks the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and the city marshal deputies for their assistance with the search and capture of the inmate. Ardoin is now facing additional charges of simple escape and theft.
