Kendrick Ceasar gets a good block from a teammate and then heads up field for points.

Fourth ranked Basile blasts Grand Lake

The overall fourth ranked team in Class 1A, Basile, proved why they are worthy of that rank. They crushed Grand Lake High School Friday night 51-6 to remain undefeated on the year. The win moves Basile to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in league competition. Basile now gets set up to face an East Beauregard team that is not hot right now, but they are also 4-0 in District 4-1A competition. The Trojans crushed South Cameron 26-0 Friday night. The one bright spot that stands out is that East Beauregard has to come to Basile and meet the Bearcats Friday night.
Basile scored early and often against the Hornets. Grand Lake, in its first year of football, found themselves down quickly and with no way to get back in the game due to the stingy play of the Basile defense. Basile allowed just 110 yards of total offense to the Hornets with the bulk of that coming in the final quarter against some of the younger Basile players.
On offense, Kendrick Ceasar showed up to play ball. The junior all-around player scored on a run of 52 yards to get things started for BHS. Mark Ledoux added the kick and the race was on.
Moments later, Clintrell Sias showed his skills with the rock as well. He hauled the ball in from 41 yards for six points and LeDoux added the kick. The 14-0 score was not all said and done. Basile would added another 17 points in the frame.
The Basile defense helped by getting a safety deep in Grand Lake territory. After that, the offense got back to doing their thing.
Sias made another 39-yard run look easy for six points and quarterback Mark Ivory did the same. Ivory ran the ball in from 40 yards out and LeDoux was perfect on both kicks.
In the second quarter, Gabe Fontenot ran the football in from 70 yards out. The kickoff return was enough to finish off the night as Basile headed to victory.
Basile had four players carry the ball for 40 yards or more. Ceasar was good for 88 yards on three carries and Jared Belle was good for 87 yards on eight carries. Sias ended his night with 80 yards as well.
With only three weeks left to go in the regular season, Basile is looking at one at a time and hoping to remain perfect next week.
