ERATH – In their first playoff game in four years the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers made the trek down south to Erath as the No. 19 seed in hopes of stealing a win on the road.
Unfortunately, the Lady Panthers faded in the end, as they were outscored 24-2 in the final quarter in a 62-42 loss to the Erath Lady Bobcats here Thursday night.
“We just ran out of steam,” said Pine Prairie head coach Renotta Edwards. “The score does not reflect the effort the girls gave the entire game.”
Pine Prairie and Erath played to a draw in the first quarter with both teams scoring 16 points each.
The Lady Bobcats were two points better in the second quarter to take a 27-25 lead into the locker room.
Pine Praire came out of half time and turned it up a notch, outpacing Erath 15-11, as they finished the third quarter with a 40-38 lead.
However, the Lady Bobcats were relentless in the final quarter and pulled away with force to take the win.
Pine Prairie finishes the season with an overall record of 15-9.
“It will be tough without the seniors around anymore,” stated Edwards. “They were the heart and soul of the team. Their leadership extended off the floor. They will be truly missed.”
