VPPD arrests one for theft of boat; search continues for other suspect

On May 26, 2017 the Basile Police Department arrested Crystal Istre Jones, 41, in connection with the recent theft of an aluminum boat from a Ville Platte residence.
According to a VPPD press release, 41-year-old Kirk Joseph Reed, who is wanted in connection with this theft, still “remains at large.”
The release stated that “on May 1, 2017 at approximately 3:30 p.m. the VPPD responded to a call of theft on West Main Street.”
It then continued, “Upon arrival officers learned an aluminum boat, motor and trailer had been stolen from the yard of the residence.”
Jones, of Mamou, was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The 41-year-old female was transported to the Ville Platte City Jail, where she remains incarcerated on a $7,500 bond.
