MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Jack V. Reed, 96, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 12. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Mr. Reed died Saturday, January 9, 2016. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II. He was retired from the oil field, inducted into the Louisiana High School Boxing Hall of Fame and a coach at Sacred Heart in the 1950’s. He was also a horse trainer and breeder.
Survivors include his wife, Leonie Reed of Mamou; one son, Bobbie Jack and his wife, Bonita, of Lafayette; eight step-children; three grandchildren, Craig Reed, Claudia Reed and Mitchell Reed; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Evora Pickens Reed; his first wife, Bonita Ardoin Reed; three brothers, Richard Reed, Lionel Reed and Donald Reed; and two sisters, Dorothy Duplechain and Willie Agnes Bragg.
Deacon Gary Gaudin officiated.
