EUNICE - Funeral services will be held for Robert “Sonny” Spears, 79, of Reddell, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 22. Burial will follow in the Durio Cemetery in Eunice.
Mr. Spears died Monday, October 20, 2014, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Robert, better known as “Sonny,” was a retired farmer and cattleman and he loved to garden. But most of all, he was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, and spending time with them was a great deal of joy.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 61 years, Dolorous “Sis” Spears of Reddell; two sons, Brent Spears and his wife, Cindy, and Todd Spears and his wife, Francine, all of Reddell; one brother, Donny Spears of Ville Platte; one sister, Joy Duplechian of Lake Charles; the joys of his life, his nine grandchildren, Kyle Spears, Dustin Spears, Krista LeBouef, Julie Fontenot, Jonathon Spears, Shem Spears, Nathanael Spears, Morgan Reed and Sloan Clark; 18 great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Ky, Kera and Karmyn Spears, Abe, Dalin, Paizlyn and Kayson Spears, Kaden, Tannon and Josie Lebouef, Jenna and Layna Fontenot, Karli and Baylee Clark, Japheth Spears and Conner and Matthew Reed; and one great-great-grandchild, Linda Shyanne Douget.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Julia McCoy Spears; and two sisters, Betty Aguillard and Gussie Ann Boyett.
Pastor Orville Rogers will officiate.
