Board to elect officers for ’08

Heading up the agenda when the St. Martin School Board meets for the first time this year is the election of officers for 2008.

The board will hold its regular monthly meeting at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Instructional Center, 111 Courville Street in Breaux Bridge.

James “Jimmy” Blanchard of District 4 currently serves as president while Mark Hebert of District 10 is the vice president.

Also near the top of the agenda is approval of the disbursement of a January sales tax salary supplement in the amount of $420 for all professional employees and $300 for paraprofessionals.

In addition to a number of routine items, today’s agenda also includes:

•Review fiscal year 2007-08 audit report prepared by Kolder, Champagne, Slaven & Co.

•Approve 44¢ per mile reimbursement for employee travel effective Jan. 1.

•Consider the advertisement for a director of administration and operations.

•Executive (secret) session to discuss threat of litigation regarding lost tax revenues.

•Under personnel changes, consider renewal of administrative contracts for a period of two years beginning July 1 for nine supervisors — Gail Dalcourt, director of curriculum & instruction; Mozella Gonsoulin, child attendance and welfare; Allen Blanchard, elementary education; William Greig, secondary education; Leah Hebert and Michael Hebert, special services; Redell Louis, technologies and libraries; Angela McFaul, early childhood (Title 1); and Samuel Wininger, operations; nine principals — Anthony Polotzola, Cecilia High; Dianetta Young, Cecilia Jr. High; Denise Frederick, SM Jr. High; Pennye Huval, BB Primary; Wanda Guidry, Cecilia Primary; Bonnie Thibodeaux, Parks Primary; Charee Theriot, SM Primary; Annette Baudoin, Catahoula Elementary; and Mary Wyble, Stephensville Elementary; and four assistant principals — Kara Meaux, BBHS; Robin Chance, CHS; Frederick Wiltz, SMJH; and Joy Cormier, BB Primary.

Also, approve two PC technicians; and for the advertisement for a bookkeeper II.

•Approve staff recommendation on wide area network and internet service provider.

•At the request of board member Rodney Ledoux discuss letters and letters to the editor which have possible misinformation in some situations.

•Consider policy revisions regarding employee conduct and child abuse.
