Heritage Manor News: Cotton Festival events

(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Patricia Duplechin, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
We look forward to all of the Cotton Festival events this week. We begin on Monday, October 19, by attending the Contradanse at the Northside Civic Center, where the crowning of a new Le Roi et La Reine will happen. The newly-crowned royalty will then attend the coronation in their honor on Saturday, October 24. They will also ride in the parade on Sunday, October 25.
October is a very busy month for all. On Wednesday, we will take a field trip to Village de Memoire for yet another ceramic class. Everyone is excited about the painting class and the hospitality of Janice and Fernella.
On Thursday, October 22, we plan to travel to Lafayette to attend the quarterly regional bingo blowout hosted by River Oaks Nursing Home and sponsored by the Region III administrators.
Other activities this week include group exercise, manicures, in-room visits, group therapy, pokeno, cookie bake, service by Community Prayer Line, mass, happy hour and Come Lord Jesus group.
The staff of Heritage Manor sends get-well wishes to J.C. Freeman and Doritha Ardoin.
The staff of Heritage Manor extends its deepest sympathy to the family of Stella Schmitt.
The staff of Heritage Manor wishes a Happy Birthday this week to Rose Reed and John Fruge.
Many, many thanks to all who donated for the annual wild game cookout and the cooks. The residents totally enjoyed the wonderful cuisine. I guess it is a fact that good hunters make good cooks. We will be accepting donations for Christmas gifts at any time to give everyone the opportunity to choose a resident of their choice to buy a gift for.
Organizations, schools, churches, merchants and volunteers need to contact us in advance in order to plan Christmas events.
