Heritage Manor News: Happy Mother’s Day!

National Nursing Home Week was created in 1967 and always begins on Mother’s Day. We celebrate by bringing some of our willing moms to the movies and letting them pick the feature of their choice. We also have a celebration of the most active mother by giving an award and party for all. Our honoree this year is Laura Ortego. She is 93 years old and enjoys most group activities. She is friendly and loves to socialize with the staff and other residents. Her daughter, Delana, is very involved in her care and well being. Together, they attend most games and parties.
This week, we will be having many fun events and dress out days in observance of Nursing Home Week. We plan to entertain and amuse the residents, family members and staff. We encourage everyone to participate and join in on the fun.
We thank VFW Post #3803 members for coming every year to kick off the week with a flag raising ceremony and balloon release, Acadian Ambulance representative Paul Fuselier for the burgers, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for the ice cream party, Administrator Trey Prudhomme for allowing us to enjoy ourselves along with the residents and, of course, the dietary department for all of their hard work, especially for all the extra events we throw at them.
Other activities this week include Come Lord Jesus group, group exercise, cookie bake, home made ice cream, rosary, group therapy, bingo sponsored by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and mass by Sacred Heart.
The staff of Heritage Manor wishes a Happy Birthday this week to Bernadine Jack.
The staff of Heritage Manor sends get-well wishes to Pershing Jack Deville and Roland Cloutier.
