Heritage Manor News: Luck of the Irish

Accordiing to Psychologist Richard Wiseman, you can learn to be a better person by changing the way you think. This study found that unlucky people are more anxious and focus on small details of a situation. Luckier individuals are more laid back and open to opportunities when they occur. Lucky people prepare and seek opportunities that will enhance their goals, whereas unlucky people are passive and hope something good will happen. The history of the term “Luck of the Irish” can be traced back to several famous Irish-American miners that hit it big in the gold and silver rush of the 19th century. The shamrock has been a symbol of St. Patrick’s Day, as well as Ireland, for centuries. Irish brides put one in their bouquets and grooms put one in their boutannieres for good luck. Prepare for luck, create and notice opportunities, develop a strategy (be in the right place at the right time), make decisions that move you closer to your goal, show a positive attitude and practice resilience.
Activites this week include Come Lord Jesus group, bingo sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, manicures, mass by Sacred Heart, bean bag toss, service by Washington Baptist Church, happy hour, in-room visits, patriotic rosary, parachute fun, bingo sponsored by the DAV and service by the Armada Prayer Group.

Bingo blowout in Rayne was a great success. Our residents enjoyed the fun, food and entertainment. We appreciate the outings we are allowed to attend. Thank you to nurse Katina Watson for assisting us.
