Minister’s Corner: Right with God

When we stand before the throne of God on the final day, the Bible says that we will be judged according to what we have done. How did you respond to human need; did you or did you not show compassion?
Now, having said that, I want to make something abundantly clear. The point is not merely that if we are nice to people we get to Heaven, as so many people believe. There is more to it than that. In order to live lives of compassion, we must first be on the receiving end of God’s mercy. We must come to the place in our lives where we realize that we are goats, and that we are in need of God’s transforming grace. We need Jesus to come into our lives, forgive us of our sins and make sheep out of us - so that we can live like sheep. The Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
That means all of us! Before we can do any good thing, we first need to be made right with God. We need to have a relationship with God’s son, Jesus Christ.
