EPSO discovers dead woman in vehicle

Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered the body of a missing person on Tuesday.
EPSO received a phone call on Monday, August 3 in reference to a missing person. The following day EPSO found a woman in her vehicle deceased from a gunshot wound not too far from her residence. EPSO later identified that woman as Sheryl Bailey of Ville Platte. No further information is being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
In others news concerning EPSO:
• EPSO’s Inves-tigations Division received information from a concerned citizen on Thursday, July 30 in reference to a possible stolen ATVs located at 1542 Sgt. John Road. The called advised detectives that he obtained the information from a family member. EPSO detectives recovered a 2008 Honda Rancher 420 that had been reported stolen off of Whiteville Road. The ATV was released back to the rightful owner.
•EPSO Inves-tigations Division received a package on Monday, July 27 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security containing a powder substance that was filed tested and resulted in a positive result for a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance used in the manufacturing Synthetic Cannabinoids (aka Legal Marijuana). The package originated from China with a destination to a resident outside the city limits of Ville Platte.
On Wednesday, July 29, EPSO detectives teamed up with the Louisiana State Police (Narcotics Division) and a U.S. Postal Inspector in an attempt to make the delivery. The delivery failed to no one at the residence.
On Thursday, July 30, U.S. Postal Inspector informed EPSO detectives that two individuals were attempting to pick the package directly from the Post Office. Detectives detained and took the two individuals into custody for questioning without incident. After questioning the two were booked and charged with Conspiracy to Manufacture Synthetic Cannabinoid and Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II (Oxycodone). Both subjects are currently being held on a $45,000 bond.
